PGA Assistant/Trainee - Puttenham Golf Club

This individual will report to the Golf Shop Coordinator. The candidate will work in the golf shop assisting in organising and running the day-to-day golf operation including retail sales, enhancing members experience and the collection of green fees. Once suitably qualified, this person will also be required to deliver tuition to Members/guests and propose coaching initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Ensure all customers are checked-in in accordance with Club procedures and greeted in the appropriate fashion

2. Assist the Golf Shop Coordinator in execution of all Standard Operating Procedures within the department including but not exclusive too merchandising, stock management, ordering, pricing and opening and closing procedures

3. Assist the Golf Shop Coordinator by improving commercial performance of retail business

4. Once suitably qualified, become an integral part of the teaching team and deliver all programmes in cooperation with the Head Professional

5. Ensure the quality of lesson being delivered exceeds the expectations of the customer

6. Deliver Member clinics and support the Head Professional in delivery of the junior or school programmes

7. Deliver custom fitting sessions and develop initiatives to drive hardware sales

8. Ensure security of custom fitting equipment, retail stock and appropriate cash handling

9. Maintain good Health and Safety Awareness

10. Replenish any missing stock (from store room)

11. Follow open and close procedures as laid down by the Golf Shop Coordinator

12. Maintain a clean and tidy shop, ensuring daily vacuum and rubbish removal and weekly dusting

13. Check all stock has been bar coded

14. Aid stock counts and checks

15. Manage the day-to day upkeep of the Practice Ground. This will include the weekly ball collection and ensuring the facility is well presented at all times


16. Communicate with internal and external customers in a friendly and courteous manner at all times

17. Never leave store unattended

18. To maintain a professional standard of dress and appearance, in line with Club standards

19. Maintain a safe, clean and tidy work area

20. To adhere to all statutory requirements regarding fire, health, safety and hygiene

21. To attend any training sessions as requested and adhere to company policies.

22. Support colleagues in delivering a high standard of customer service

23. Carry out any additional duties as reasonably requested by the management team

24. Promote the Club in a positive light at every opportunity
