An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a talented, self-motivated and ambitious manager to join one of the best-in-class golf clubs in Essex as its new Operations Manager.
Founded in 1893, Wanstead Golf Club is a private members’ golf club that boasts a beautiful parkland course situated in East London only 5 minutes’ walk from Wanstead Tube Station on the Central Line and easily accessible from the M25 and A406 North Circular roads.
The Club is a million pound plus business and has recently embarked on an investment programme with an increased business focus to improve every aspect of its offering with a view to safeguarding the Club’s future and facilitating significant growth across all areas of the membership, as well as offering a first-class service to members and visitors alike.
The Operations Manager role is an interesting, challenging, and varied position within the environment of a traditional golf club. The role works alongside the Golf Course Manager and Commercial Manager roles to ensure a seamless experience for Members and visitors alike.
Finance, Accounting and Financial Management:
Aid the Board in preparing the annual and 5-year budgets.
Controlling all expenditure in accordance with approved budget expenditure profiles.
Managing the contracts with Wanstead Golf Club’s suppliers.
Maintaining a contracts diary and performing contract reviews periodically in advance of renewal dates to obtain best value for money
The security of all cash and other receipts and the banking thereof.
Oversee payment of all staff salaries and wages and properly account for PAYE, NI contributions, pension contributions and filing of annual returns.
Oversee payment of creditors against authorised accounts, having regard to cash flow requirements and any available discounts.
Review monthly bar stocktaking and implement any corrective actions needed to minimise losses.
Monitor bar prices to ensure gross profit margins are maintained at competitive rates and in accordance with policies laid down by the Board.
Facility Management:
Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and maintenance of the Clubhouse, other buildings, and surrounds
Keep the Club's insurance cover under review, ensuring that assets are properly protected, and potential liabilities quickly foreseen & planned for.
Ensure that the Club’s information systems are kept up to date and adequately supported.
Ensure the Club adheres to necessary fire, health and safety regulations.
Work with Caterer to ensuring that the kitchen meets necessary hygiene standards achieving a minimum rating of 4 with target of 5.
Working with the Board to identify areas that may require refurbishment and produce proposals for review.
Work with the Bar Manager to ensure that the Club's Licences are maintained and complied with.
