NGC Courses Director - WoodHall Spa

The golf courses at the National Golf Centre, the Home of England Golf, are set in approximately 400 acres of the 620 acre Woodhall Spa estate. The heathland and parkland courses sit alongside a state-of-the-art golf academy and extensive practicefacilities. The Hotchkin Course (opened in 1905) is consistently rated amongst the world's finest courses and has been ranked in Golf Magazine's World Top 100 since 1985. In the latest course ranking list produced by Golf World/Today’s Golfer, the Hotchkin is rated 26th in the world and 4th in England. The Bracken Course, designed by Donald Steel, opened in 1998 offers a contrasting parkland experience.


The Role: We are looking for an experienced, pro-active, passionate, and ambitious candidate who will work as part of thesenior management team. The chosen candidate must have the vision, determination and experience to continue to improve and evolve the courses and estate, whilst able to manage and develop the existing team through structured and motivational management. A knowledge of heather management would be beneficial.


The Candidate: The candidate will appreciate the heritage of the site and have the ambition and ability to enhance the reputation of the National Golf Centre on a regional, national, and international level. They should be a proven team leader,able to prioritise and multi-task, and work within the senior management team, remaining diplomatic and inclusive.


Experience, Skills and Competencies:


Ø A minimum of 5-10 years’ experience and an excellent understanding of heathland and parkland course management.

Ø Possess a wealth of technical greenkeeping and agronomy skills together with tournament standards of course preparation.

Ø The ability and experience to inspire, motivate and manage a team to achieve the objectives set by the Board.

Ø The highest standards of professionalism, effective communications, strong IT capabilities, and inter-personal skills with appropriate professional qualifications.

Ø An eye for detail and commitment to deliver the highest standards.

Ø A high level of knowledge and application of health and safety, employment, and other legislation relevant to golf clubs.

Ø Have the ability/experience to handle different situations in a calm and positive manner.

Ø Always represent the Company in a professional manner and be able to present confidently to the Board, members and others if requested to do so.

Ø Be smart in appearance, present the team in a professional manner and maintain a clean and tidy maintenance facility.

Ø Willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.

Ø Excellent administrative skills, able to prepare/manage operational and Capex budgets, and produce accurate, timely reports.
