General Manager - Stockport Golf Club

An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a talented, energetic, self-motivated and ambitious Manager to join this historic golf club, designed by Harry Colt, as its new General Manager and help propel the club into its next phase of development.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

The management of Stockport Golf Club (SGC) and overseeing the day to day commercial and golf operations. Influence the formation of an up-to-date strategic plan and support the Board to ensure that SGC is a modern, forward thinking, successful and sustainable golf club offering the best possible golfing experience for members and visitors alike.

Ø Develop the vision for SGC to be the best members club in the region

Ø Responsible for the running of the administration of the Club, the course, and premises, within the scope of the business plan and approved budget.

Ø Management of all staff at the Club, including the Assistant Secretary, Green Staff and the bar and catering staff.

Ø Planning resources and delivery of cost effective and efficient support services to the members of the Club, making optimum use of modern methods and technology.

Ø To ensure the SGC is fully compliant with all legislative practices related to employment, H&S, environmental, fire, liquor license, equal opportunities, safeguarding and risk assessments.

Ø To create and develop short, medium and long-term Business Plan.

Ø To develop and implement agreed strategies for growing the business including initiatives to support membership retention and recruitment.

Ø To be proactive in the promotion of SGC to as wide an audience as possible to expand the reach and messages of the club.

Qualifications and Experience:

Ø Commercial and financial acumen, knowledge of sound business practices and basic P&L skills.

Ø A track record of developing a culture of service excellence to deliver a consistent, high quality and enjoyable experience.

Ø Experience of managing a diverse team through strong performance management, objective setting and appraisal.

Ø General management experience in site operations with a working knowledge and application of appropriate legislation appropriate to all aspects of the business.

Ø Excellent computer and IT skills.

Ø Capable of effective time management skills in a busy and disruptive environment.
