General Manager - Enville Golf Club

Enville Golf Club, founded in 1935, is a private members club with a playing membership of 900 and one of the finest examples of heathland golf in the UK. Our facilities were gradually extended over a period of years until 1983, when two eighteen-hole courses were completed. 2010 saw the addition of one of the finest most extensive practice facilities in the Midlands. Previously a regional Open qualifier, we have since hosted several R&A and England Golf events such as the R&A Girls U16 Amateur competition.

The Club are now seeking a General Manager to play a central part in leading, influencing and delivering the Strategic Plan for the club, with the full support of the Executive Board. It is an exciting position that will require a dynamic candidate to continue to build on the success to date of the Club.

The Role: The General Manager is pivotal to the operation of the Club ensuring it achieves it operational, financial, and strategic targets and provides high level of service to members and visitors. You will have autonomous General Management responsibility for all off-course elements of the club’s operation.

Working closely with the Board, you will manage a team which includes hospitality, finance, marketing, and administration to achieve high quality results and superior customer service levels for both for members and visitors. You will also be required to work closely with the Course Manager and his team as well as the Club Professionals.

Person Specification

Ø An experienced General Manager within the golf industry. 5 years’ minimum!

Ø A leader, influencer, and skilled man-manager with the ability to drive change.

Ø A proven track record in successfully managing a service-based organisation.

Ø A thorough understanding of the operational and governance demands of a private member’s golf club.

Ø Able to demonstrate good commercial awareness / business acumen.

Ø Highly developed financial understanding gained from leading on the setting of and delivery to stretching targets.

Ø The ability to drive and manage budget objectives with strong attention to detail.

Ø A strong team player who can build mutually beneficial relationships with all the key stakeholders.

Ø Personable and approachable, you will have the ability to build and sustain business relationships and motivate staff members.

Ø Good time management and workload prioritization skills.

Ø The ability to deliver consistently high quality informative and well written work, such as members newsletters and reports to the Executive Board.

Ø You will need knowledge of club governance, Strategic Planning, Health and Safety, strong IT systems knowledge (Microsoft, Club V1 etc)

Ø An outgoing, positive and tenacious personality to positively influence the performance of others.
