General Manager - Cosby Golf Club

Cosby Golf Club was established in 1895 and is set amongst the beautiful landscape, renowned rolling hills, cleverly placed bunkers and tall fine specimen trees in the East Midlands. Highly reviewed as “friendly”, “amazing” and “excellent”, the club is famous for its hospitality, takes pride in its status and continuously strives to offer a great golfing experience to its members and visitors alike.

The Club, which is a Private Company Limited by Guarantee, are looking for an experienced manager, with demonstrable financial acumen, relevant skills and enthusiasm to lead the business. We are seeking an entrepreneurial/commercial approach to develop, for the benefit of the membership, the opportunities that our course, location and clubhouse provide. The successful applicant must also have the IT literate and able to fully leverage our Intelligent Golf software.

These skills need to be blended with a proven track record that can bring together the different elements of club management to create a service excellence culture and a one-team mentality.

The Candidate:

The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of the management of the club and golf course in accordance with the policies determined by the Board and will report directly to the Chair of the Board.

They should possess and be able to demonstrate the following attributes:

Ø Proven management, leadership and administration skills in a customer led environment.

Ø A proactive commercial approach to attract new members whilst retaining existing ones and to maximise all income streams.

Ø Previous experience of the hospitality industry, including the sale of food and beverage.

Ø A personable and approachable demeanour combined with strong diplomacy and motivation skills.

Ø The ability to display business acumen, communication and marketing with an understanding of financial and budgetary control as well as having good IT and social media skills.

Ø Knowledge and application of employment law, health and safety legislation and the relevant licensing and GDPR requirements.

Ø The willingness to work flexible hours as dictated by the nature of the job.
