The Club is recruiting for a Deputy General Manager, to work closely with the General Manager to deliver the efficient running of all aspects of the Club. This is a rare opportunity to join the senior management team of one of the country’s leading golf clubs.
The Royal West Norfolk Golf Club is a well-established and highly-regarded club, based in the North Norfolk village of Brancaster. Founded in 1892, the Club boasts a magnificent links course (recently voted 17th best course in England by Golf World), a newly refurbished clubhouse (including a two bedroomed Dormy Flat) and a well-equipped Shop.
Summary of Role:
This is an important appointment for the Club and the successful candidate will be a self-motivated and driven individual, with strong interpersonal and management skills. Commitment to the on-time delivery in all aspects of the Club’s business is also essential. A proven track record in a similar customer facing role within golf is essential. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate that they have excellent organisational skills, coupled with the ability to work well on their own initiative, as well as, within a team environment. Particular expertise in the oversight of a golf club’s F&B area will be considered an advantage.
Key responsibilities will include the following:
Ø Deputise for the GM as required – in both internal and external areas of GM responsibility.
Ø Overall day-to-day responsibility for the efficient running of the golf club.
Ø Overall day-to-day responsibility for serving the needs of members and visitors – receiving and handling personal, email and telephone-based enquiries.
Ø The efficient handling of member communications.
Ø The organisation of Committee meetings, AGMs and EGMs, as well as minute taking.
Ø Delivery of inter-departmental coordination on a day-top-day basis and through the running of a [monthly] management committee
Ø Working with the Head of House / Head Professional to deliver and develop the club’s F&B / Golf operations service offering to members and visitors alike.

Ø The condition and the maintenance of the clubhouse infrastructure – including the dormy flat
Ø The club’s Health & Safety protocols and practice
Personal Profile:
Ø Experience within a Golf Facility providing a high level of service with supervisory experience preferred.
Ø Enthusiastic, polite and approachable; always looking to exceed expectations.
Ø Experience of basic agronomics and course presentation within a Private Members Club.
Ø Modern day communication skills and computer literacy with experience of Golf Specific software solutions.
Ø Strives for excellence and attention to detail at all times.
Ø Offers the highest possible standards of integrity and diplomacy, common sense and a good sense of humour.
Ø Passion for Golf and in-depth knowledge of the golf industry, the history of the game and etiquette.
Salary: The salary will be negotiable but commensurate with the position and the overall package will include: Share in the staff fund after a qualifying period, pension fund and meals on duty.
Hours: Working hours to meet the requirements of the position consistent with the duties set out below. This should amount to 40 hours per week, but hours will be flexible and will include such time at weekends and bank holidays as Club activities dictate.
