A vacancy has arisen for the role of County Secretary for the Staffordshire Union of Golf Clubs Ltd (SUGC).
SUGC provides specialist support and guidance to 46 affiliated golf clubs in Staffordshire and manages county championships, competitions and representative teams.
The Board of SUGC has a number of appointed Directors responsible for key management areas and they are supported by the County Secretary who is responsible for the efficient general management of SUGC’s day to day operations and administration including affiliation, club diary, governance, handicap and other agreed protocols.
Providing advice to clubs on handicapping (WHS), course rating procedures,
Managing county golf events, cultivating relationships with affiliated golf clubs, county officials, England Golf and other Counties
General administration in arranging Board meetings, liaising on website management
Promoting and leading all county communication programmes.
The position is home-based and full-time (flexible based on an average of 35 hours per week). Travel within and outside Staffordshire is required as is some evening and weekend work.
Salary: circa £30k -£40k per annum depending on experience
To fulfil this role you will need a good knowledge of golf and the structure of national, county and club based activities. You will also need excellent communication and relationship management skills; effective planning and organising skills; ability to prioritise and be organised and with a flexible and adaptable approach to work. The job also requires good IT skills.
