Club Manager - Spalding Golf Club

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, self-motivated and forward-thinking individual to develop their career as the new Club Manager at Spalding Golf Club. 

 

Spalding Golf Club (SGC) is a private members club founded in 1907 known as The Oasis in the Fens.  With over 700 playing members, it is regarded as having one on the finest courses in Lincolnshire hosting many prestigious County and England Golf Tournaments.  In 2025, we will host the England Golf Junior Championship. The club are past English Club Champions.

 

All sections of the club are extremely active with regular internal competitions including many local as well as national league/knockout matches.  We have an energetic junior section. An Academy Course is a new asset being used by many beginners and others to practice.  We also have a fine Driving Range.  Our Championship course is in superb condition with many on-going improvements to support its sustainability and playability.  It receives many visitor compliments.

 

The Clubhouse is under-going a major investment with a complete refurbishment, known as Project Refresh.  This development will have the potential to realise significant income generation.

The Role:

 

The Club are seeking to recruit an ambitious, progressive thinking Club Manager with strong hospitality experience to work closely with the Board to lead the club forward maximising the futuristic investment in the course and clubhouse. The role requires a results driven leader with adaptable communication and soft skills to head up the Senior Management Team.  Accountable to the Board Chair, the Club Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day to day running of the SGC operation.

 

Personal Skills and Characteristics:

 

Ø  The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate an outstanding ability to communicate and relate to people of all backgrounds; with a real appreciation of golf and its traditions within the ethos of a private members club;

Ø  Will have experience of balancing the needs of different groups of people, and in particular the needs of the members, committee and staff;

Ø  Will have strong proven, organisational leadership and management skills, likely to have been honed in a complex organisation, and be financially literate;

Ø  Will need to be IT competent with a good understanding of Intelligent Golf, Zero and other software typically used in golf clubs;

Ø  The highest possible standards of integrity and diplomacy will be expected as will presence, common sense, industry and good sense of humour;

Ø  Ideally you should have a love of the game, be able to appreciate the concerns of the members and deliver results quickly and efficiently.

 

Remuneration:  A attractive remuneration package is available commensurate with the role and a golf club in the Midlands of this prestige and profile.  Relocation assistance could be provided, if required.
