We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to join Hillingdon Council’s Golf Team, working together to ensure an excellent service is delivered to our residents and service users.
The position is predominately based at Haste Hill Public Golf Course, it’s a busy 18-hole municipal facility with a par of 68.
Occasionally you may be required to work at Uxbridge Public Golf Course, the Council’s second golf course.
The position will offer a variety of agronomic maintenance tasks, your duties will typically include:
Mowing of all playing surfaces
Scarification and aeration of turf
Applying nutrition and top dressing
Switching and brushing
Irrigating and rolling turf
Identifying plants, weeds, pests, turf diseases and disorders
Preparing ground and establishing turf and plants
Marking of hazards, out of bounds and ground under repair
Maintaining golf course furniture
Undertaking routine machine maintenance
Driving and preparing machinery for use and storage
Maintaining trees and shrubs
Communicating effectively and understanding their roles and responsibilities
Keeping management informed
Monitor and maintain good standards of health, safety, and security in the workplace
Responding to emergencies

This full-time post will work 39 hours per week April to September, and 33 hours October to March. Working hours will be annualised as required in line with the needs of the service. The post is required to work 39 hours per week during the summer period (1 April – 30 September) and 33 hours per week during the winter period (1 October – 31 March), on a rota basis covering Monday to Sunday, inclusive of Bank Holidays.

About You
We are seeking an individual with a passion for greenkeeping and good knowledge of horticulture practices.
You will hold an NVQ Level 2 in Greenkeeping and Sports Turf Management, in addition to chainsaw and spraying certificates (PA1, PA2 and PA6).
The ideal candidate will also hold irrigation systems experience.
You will have a clean UK driving licence and be able to work a rota covering Monday to Sunday, inclusive of Bank Holidays.
A proactive approach to work is a must, and in all weather conditions.
You should be conscientious, flexible, a positive attitude with good communication and timekeeping.
You will have the ability to work individually and as part of a small team.
